Nick Jonas is donning a black wig, some white face paint and a rock and roll attitude for his next role. The singer is in final negotiations to play Kiss co-founder Paul Stanley in the the McG-directed biopic of the rock band, Shout It Out Loud, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed.
The film is currently slated to go into production at the end of the year or in early 2026, with the most recent draft written by Darren Lemke and STX financing.
Shout it Out Loud focuses on the formation of the ’70s glitter rock band that became known for their face paint, stage outfits, and shock-rock performance style which featured fire-breathing, blood-spitting, smoking guitars, shooting rockets, and pyrotechnics. Although the band went through several member shakeups, Stanley and Gene Simmons remained the only consistent members.

When the group began its final worldwide tour in January 2019, it did so with a lineup consisting of Stanley, Simmons, Tommy Thayer, and Eric Singer. Kiss retired after performing their final show in New York City in December 2023.
Stanley and Simmons have been developing the film for several years alongside Mark Canton, Doc McGhee, Jody Gerson (Universal Music Publishing Group, Polygram Entertainment), Polygram’s David Blackman, and Bruce Resnikoff (Universal Music Group/UMe), who control and represent the band’s song publishing and recorded music rights globally.
Canton, Simmons, Stanley, McGhee, Gerson, and Blackman will all serve as producers or executive producers; joined by Leigh Ann Burton; McG, and his Wonderland producing partner Mary Viola; David Hopwood; Courtney Solomon; and Dorothy Canton; as well as Sweden-based Pophouse, who acquired the global rights to the KISS brand, including name and likeness.
