Schedule I is under investigation for potential copyright infringement

After attracting over 400,000 simultaneous players on Steam, Schedule I is now under intense scrutiny. So much so that the drug-trafficking game could soon find itself at the heart of a legal battle.
In a document dated April 3, 2025, Movie Games SA announces its intention to launch an in-depth investigation into the case of Schedule I. The studio believes that TVGS’s title may infringe the copyrights associated with its Drug Dealer Simulator license.
The document in question refers specifically to "potential violations of the issuer’s intellectual property rights, and activities likely to present the characteristics of unfair competition" being identified.
The investigation will focus on "elements of the game’s plot and mechanics, as well as the user interface (UI)". Depending on the report’s findings, Movie Games SA will decide whether or not to take the case to court. We may then be faced with a case similar to that which pitted Pocketpair and Nintendo for Palworld.
