Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is a pretty good remaster

Most of us are looking forward to Assassin’s Creed Shadows this week, but there’s another release to watch out for on the Switch. We’re talking about Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition.

This remaster of the Wii U game released in 2015 has garnered an OpenCritic average of 87% (34 reviews). On Metacritic, the game has scored a whooping 88% (52 reviews).

We’d like to highlight the new playable characters, the big bonus chapter, the absolutely insane length, the simplified upgrades and the inevitably better graphics.

However, the title also has its shortcomings, such as dialogues that are sometimes too long, readability getting compromised in combat sometimes, and a lacklustre staging. What’s more, despite the improvements made in this area, the visuals remain far from what the Switch is really capable of.
