xAI is hiring a full-time Waifu Engineer for Grok

xAI recently released their latest model of Grok, their proprietary AI platform. With it, came their new “Companion” feature which has already taken over the internet by featuring a cute anime girl who gets more scandalous as users interact with her.
The companion “Ani” is an anime girl with blonde twin-tails and a gothic lolita inspired outfit. Her outfit will actually change as users get more “intimate” with Ani, raising her affection levels.

Her design has already inspired tons of fanart and even cosplays (time to dust off those Misa Amane wigs). However as Ani and potential future companions go viral, it appears it’s necessary for xAI to invest in keeping up with the latest “waifu” tech.
A position for a “Full Stack Engineer – Waifus” has been posted to the career page on xAI. Applicants will be expected to be able to help guide the development of real time avatars, push research into gameplay to help innovate the product, and ensure quality. Applicants should be well-versed in Python and Rust.
The job is based in Palo Alto and applicants are expected to be located near the bay area. But those who meet the requirements could make as much as $440,000 a year working on anime waifus.
