Ubisoft has been forthcoming about numerous details in its latest shareholder meeting, from confirming a new Ghost Recon is in the works to discussing the failure of Star Wars Outlaws. It also revealed the development budget for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Sort of.

CEO Yves Guillemot and CFO Frederick Duguet stated (via Game File) that its budget exceeded €100 million or roughly $116 million. However, the actual costs, not including marketing, are undoubtedly much higher. Announced in September 2022, it’s helmed by Ubisoft Quebec, but 14 other Ubisoft studios have provided support.

Whether it recouped development costs or not, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has clearly performed well for the publisher. In the United States, it’s the third-best-selling game year-to-date as of May 2025, per Circana. Ubisoft also confirmed over three million players shortly after launch, alongside the second-highest day-one sales for the series (beating the previous record holder, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey).

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. It’s due to receive free updates like New Game Plus and its first expansion, Claws of Awaji, later this year. A co-op mode is also allegedly launching next year.
