Netflix has dropped its latest binge-worthy series, The Hunting Wives, and it’s clearly aiming for a multi-season run.
Based on May Cobb’s best-selling novel of the same name, The Hunting Wives follows Sophie (Brittany Snow) and her family as they relocate from Boston to Texas. There, she becomes entangled with Margo (Malin Akerman), the leader of an exclusive socialite group. Thus begins her descent into a world of obsession, secrets, and deadly consequences.
Since its July 21 premiere, The Hunting Wives quickly climbed Netflix’s streaming charts, captivating audiences with its scandalous and juicy storyline.
The season 1 finale leaves plenty of loose ends and chaos in its wake, paving the way for even more to come. But will there be a second season? Here’s everything we know about The Hunting Wives season 2.
Will there be a season 2 of The Hunting Wives?

As of writing, Netflix hasn’t officially renewed The Hunting Wives for a second season, but there’s hope on the horizon. The season 1 finale’s cliffhanger ending leaves viewers with several unanswered questions, and the cast and crew seem more than ready to explore where the story goes next.
In fact, Akerman made it clear in a recent chat with Decider that she’s open to returning for a second season.
“I am super excited and nervous. I think the nerves come from — for me, it’s really wanting this to go for a second season because I love everybody that I got to work with and it would be a dream come true to go again,” she said. “So my nerves are around the fact that I just want and wish for everyone to love it so much that we get another season.”
That might come as a surprise to fans of the novel, as the TV series is already pushing the story past the book’s original boundaries.
“I think that the book was really the blueprint for us taking it and making it our own,” Snow told Decider. “And May Cobb, the author, was there a lot on set and with us every step of the way and she was so supportive and so excited by it all. We really got her blessing to take these characters that she wrote in the book and then make them sort of an amalgamation of all these different things that we kind have found along the way shooting.”
What happened at the end of The Hunting Wives season 1?
Lionsgate TV
Packed with scandal, secrets, and suspense, The Hunting Wives wraps season 1 with a twisty finale.
It’s revealed that Margo was responsible for Abby’s (Madison Wolfe) death. Abby had discovered that her boyfriend Brad (George Ferrier), the teenage son of fellow Hunting Wife Jill (Katie Lowes), was having an affair with Margo, leading to a pregnancy and an abortion. Fearing that Abby would expose the affair and jeopardize her husband Jed’s (Dermot Mulroney) political career, Margo took drastic action and gunned Abby down.
The fallout is messy. A violent confrontation at Jill’s house leaves two people dead, and Margo takes advantage of the chaos to frame Jill, effectively closing the case (at least in the eyes of the police).
But Sophie, newly released from jail after being framed for Abby’s murder, starts connecting the dots. Sophie uncovers Margo’s elaborate cover-up, which involved help from her estranged brother Kyle (Michael Aaron Milligan) and a fake alibi from her father, Doc Blevins (David Jensen).

Adding another layer of betrayal, Callie (Jaime Ray Newman), Margo’s best friend and sometimes-lover, admits she was the one who left intimate photos of Margo and Brad in Margo’s car as a misguided attempt to protect her.
At a campaign event for Jed, Sophie confronts Margo, who confesses to everything but insists she never meant to frame Sophie. Margo pleads for them to leave the past behind and start fresh, but Sophie calls Det. Salazar (Karen Rodriguez), determined to come clean.
The season ends with one last shocking twist: Kyle runs Sophie off the road and threatens her. When he seemingly reaches for a gun, Sophie slams her foot on the gas and runs him over, killing him.
As Sophie tries to figure out what to do, Salazar finally calls her back. It couldn’t be worse timing, what with her having committed vehicular homicide, so she ignores the call.
In the final moments, Sophie hauls Kyle’s body into the woods. When Margo calls his phone, Sophie accidentally picks up, but she doesn’t say a word. She quickly hangs up and sends Kyle’s body over a ledge and into a lake.
What will season 2 of The Hunting Wives be about?
Lionsgate TV
Season 1 of The Hunting Wives has already delivered plenty of soapy drama and mystery. But if there’s a second season, things are about to get even messier and way more intense.
With Kyle and Jill’s deaths hanging heavy over everyone, the new season could dive deep into their murder investigations. While the audience knows Sophie is responsible for Kyle’s death, the characters will be left scrambling to uncover the truth and who to trust.
And then there’s Sophie and Margo’s tangled relationship. Will they find a way to rekindle their affair, or is Margo convinced that Sophie had a hand in her brother’s death? The emotional stakes couldn’t be higher (and deliciously dramatic).
Who’s in the cast of The Hunting Wives season 2?
Lionsgate TV
If The Hunting Wives gets renewed for a second season, Snow and Akerman are definitely expected to be back. Ray Newman, Mulroney, Evan Jonigkeit, and more could also return, rounding out the core cast. But given that season 2 is yet to be confirmed, this is pure speculation.
