Why ‘The View’ isn’t on this week and when new episodes return in July 2025

Fans of The View will take a little time to enjoy the view of… uh… reruns throughout the holiday week, as the popular talk show begins its annual hiatus — but it’s set to return with new episodes in the days ahead.

The show’s traditional July 4 holiday hiatus will actually mark the second consecutive week of absence for moderator Whoopi Goldberg, following a trip to Italy that included an award ceremony at a book festival and securing a recurring role on a regional soap opera.

She, along with permanent cohosts Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin, will take off for the rest of this week, with repeats slated to fill the show’s time slot beginning June 30 and running through July 4.

Interviews set to re-air during this period include conversations with Hugh Jackman (June 30); Olivia Munn and Amanda Peet, as well as Kit Connor and Michael Gandolfini (July 1); Angela Bassett (July 2); Laurence Fishburne (July 3); and Geri Halliwell and Marsai Martin (July 4).

Following the week of repeat broadcasts, the cohosts — including Goldberg — will return for new episodes beginning Monday, July 7.

Leading up to the hiatus, The View has undergone significant changes in recent months, as the cohosts have also weathered a massive political shift following Kamala Harris’ loss to Donald Trump during the 2024 presidential election, which has led to several notable clashes at the Hot Topics table in the aftermath.

In addition to moving to a new studio space, The View also launched its new Weekend View edition earlier this year, which streams Saturdays at 7:30 a.m. ET/4:30 a.m. PT on the ABC News Live service.

Other notable The View happenings in recent months include a record number of Full Goldberg Collapse™ moments at the Hot Topics table over everything from Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s former relationship to, of course, Trump’s politics.

Haines also made headlines earlier this year for referring to her dad as “hot” four times on the air, while Behar locked lips with comedian Sarah Silverman during an interview in May.

In addition to the show’s shenanigans, the program has welcomed a range of high-profile political guests this season, including Vice President Harris, President Joe Biden, President Bill Clinton, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, and Anthony Weiner, whom Navarro grilled about being a registered sex offender live on the air amid his attempted comeback in New York City politics.

New episodes of The View return Monday, July 7 at ET/10 a.m. PT on ABC.
