*Lionsgate has unveiled the first teaser trailer and exclusive images for “Good Fortune,” an upcoming comedy marking the directorial debut of Aziz Ansari, set to hit theaters across the United States on October 17, 2025.
The film, which Ansari also wrote and stars in, brings together an all-star cast led by Keanu Reeves and Seth Rogen, with Ansari, Anthony Katagas, and Alan Yang serving as producers.
The story centers on Gabriel, played by Reeves, who describes himself as a “budget guardian angel” with a knack for saving people from minor mishaps, like texting while driving. Tasked with a bigger mission, Gabriel sets out to transform the lives of two starkly different individuals: Arj, a struggling gig worker portrayed by Ansari, and a wealthy venture capitalist played by Rogen.
The teaser hints at Gabriel’s comedic approach to divine intervention, as he tells fellow angel Martha, played by Sandra Oh, “I want to guide people. I want to change their lives.” Martha’s response sets the tone for his journey: “To save a lost soul, you have to find a lost soul.”
The ensemble cast also includes Keke Palmer, Sherry Cola, and Stephen McKinley Henderson. Ansari previously praised Palmer’s involvement, stating, “Keke is a delight to work with. I’m so happy she’s a part of our cast and even more excited to provide a quote for this press release announcing her casting.” Executive producers include Aniz Adam Ansari, Jonathan McCoy, Christopher Woodrow, and Connor DiGregorio.
The teaser showcases the film’s blend of humor and heart, with Reeves’ Gabriel bringing a quirky charm to his angelic duties, while Rogen’s capitalist and Ansari’s everyman navigate their contrasting worlds. With Lionsgate handling distribution, “Good Fortune” promises a fresh comedic take on class, fate, and second chances, brought to life by a stellar cast.
