*Tamar Braxton continues living life in the celibate lane. Sandra Rose cites a recent interview the “Love and War” singer did on “The Breakfast Club,” where she revealed her celibacy status has lasted a year.
“I’m still celibate,” Braxton said during the March 28 episode of popular radio show. “Not even a kiss, not a date.”
“I have friends, casual conversation, but I’m not interested, she continued while acknowledging “There’s no one that I’ve been interested in.”
Although Braxton’s year-long celibacy is an achievement, Sandra Rose notes her comments conflict with recent statements she made on Instagram.
A a recent video posted on social media captures Braxton confessing to taking precautions while navigating the dating scene in Atlanta. The A is noted for being the location where 1 in 3 men are diagnosed with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
Countering her chances of getting HIV, Braxton reveal she is currently taking PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis), a medication that blocks the HIV virus from replicating inside cells in the body.
“I’m on PrEP, and I will tell everybody get on PrEP because prepare yourself for the streets,” the 48-year-old entertainer voiced in the video. “It’s important to take care of yourself, no matter what your relationship status is. And I’m just being honest about what that looks like for me.”
PrEP is prescribed for sexually active people, a fact Braxton knows well, coupled with her awareness that the men she dates in Atlanta may be dating other men.
Still, Braxton is not worried, due to claims she’s made of being abstinent. Yet, like many people she still craves intimacy occasionally.
Rather than give in and act on her urges, the former reality TV fixture is motivated to stay on the right path, focusing on her long-term goals.
“Of course I [desire intimacy],” Braxton said, “but where does that lead to? If they’re not like-minded and we’re not on the same page… I’m dating for intent, and nobody is dating for intent anymore.”
For those wondering about her long-term goals, check an episode of “Sherri.” It was there there the single mother gave a glimpse of her motivation, which centered around her 11-year-old son Logan.
“Here’s the thing: I didn’t want to keep introducing Logan to the people that were in my life,” she said on the show on March 26. “I just want to mentally protect him as much as I can. I do not want to give him any abandonment issues or anything like that.”
“There’s no way I’m going to bring another man into his life to be unsuccessful,” she shared on an episode of her “Life, Love, & Beyond” podcast at the time. “There’s no way.”
