Magic Jigsaw Puzzles rolls out new monochrome puzzle packs for colour-blind players

When it comes to talking about disabilities in gaming, one of the more misunderstood aspects is it of colour blindness. Or, virtually everything under the broader umbrella of colour-vision deficiencies. Some of us take it for granted, but for others, it can make seemingly simple gaming experiences much more frustrating.

Thankfully, some developers recognise that, and by now, colour-blind options have become part and parcel of many accessibility options. ZiMad, the developer behind the Magic Jigsaw Puzzles, is taking it a step further with an entire monochrome puzzle pack.

The monochrome puzzle pack uses shapes to help form puzzles without the use of complex and easily misidentified colours. These high-contrast puzzle packs are not just great for players with colour and vision deficiencies, but provide a challenge to those without too. They’re set to be featured through July 31st on all platforms.

Clear as black & white

The decision to introduce these new types of puzzles is definitely a clever one, especially since ZiMad’s Magic Jigsaw Puzzles have proved so popular, yet by their very nature, most puzzles are heavily dependent on identifying colours rather than shapes. This makes it much easier to slot them together and figure out a pattern because you don’t need to visually identify colours that could be mistaken.

And while the idea of them providing just as much challenge to players without these vision differences is certainly novel, I think it’ll mostly be well-received by existing players than anything else. Certainly, it’s good to see that inclusivity is still prized, especially by those developing popular puzzle releases.
