DC Heroes United is coming to the Epic Games Store

- DC Heroes United is coming to the Epic Games Store
- The player’s choice-driven narrative features DC’s famous Justice League
- It also comes packaged with its own hero-centric Survivors-like
Like much of Genvid’s output, DC Heroes United has been a bit of an odd duck with its player-choice-driven narrative gameplay. But it’s undoubtedly had a more positive reception than Silent Hill: Ascension. Now, more players than ever before can get their hands on DC Heroes United as it’s set to hit the Epic Games Store!
DC Heroes United is, as those familiar with Genvid might expect, a narrative experience where ‘players’ will watch an original storyline and direct the flow of the story with decisions made at crucial times. It’s set to come to the Epic Games Store mere months after that opened, sidestepping the usual App Store and Google Play storefronts on which it remains available.
The Epic Games Store launch on June 12th comes after the first of the (likely many) narrative branches has wrapped up, with users of the store receiving a free gift pack that includes a skin for Batman and other items.
Make your choice
After the rather dire critical and fan response to Silent Hill: Ascension, DC Heroes United seems to have succeeded in pitching Genvid’s signature decision-based narrative approach to fans. More than likely, that’s because superheroes make for better fodder when it comes to interesting twists and turns than the usually opaque storytelling of Silent Hill.
Heroes United also comes packaged with its own Survivors-esque roguelike that offers fans a way to play when the main narrative isn’t in progress. And for many, this may be the main point of appeal, with the story playing out just a neat bonus.
Either way, it’s interesting to note that Heroes United is hitting the EGS so soon. What with Epic now taking a bit of a victory lap and Apple still suffering under judgments, any big-name brands stepping onto it are worth keeping half an eye on.
