Watch Kelly Clarkson’s daughter run her talk show for the day

Kelly Clarkson’s daughter River Rose is making sure her mom stays on task while filming her talk show no matter what. 

In a preview clip from Wednesday’s upcoming episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the “Stronger” singer revealed that her 10-year-old daughter had joined her at work today to shadow the show’s producer, Alex Duda.

“So she’s been to all the meetings this morning like an adult,” Clarkson told the audience. “Yes, she’s very professional, she told us.”

Still, River Rose couldn’t help but sneak in a little time to poke fun at her mom while on set, too. The clip then cut to a portion of Clarkson’s interview with guest Whitney Cummings, who revealed that she’d asked River Rose to spill the one thing that “annoys your mom the most” prior to filming. 

“What do you think it is?” Cummings asked, to which Clarkson replied, “Is it when she calls me Kelly?”

When Cummings agreed, Clarkson stood up and shot an exasperated look toward her daughter, who could be seen standing behind the camera. A very content River Rose simply gave her a cheeky grin in response. 

Before Clarkson could clarify her daughter’s penchant for calling her by her first name, River Rose popped in to remind her mom that it was time to wrap up this conversation, thank you very much. “Mommy should be at break,” she teased, prompting Clarkson to reply, “Whatever! Whatever!”

Cummings jokingly added, “Mommy should be at break, but guest needs a lot of attention, River.” 

River’s remark clicked with Clarkson a moment later. “I just got what she [said] — it says break! I thought you said, ‘Mommy needs a break.’ And I thought, ‘Oh, that’s so kind.’ But no, she’s telling me that I need to go to break,” she said through her laughter. “That’s cool. I got a leader! She’s gonna rule the world one day, y’all.” 

Turning to the camera as if she was the pre-teen in the conversation, Clarkson sassily added, “Okay, we need a quick break, apparently.”  

This isn’t the first time that Clarkson has brought her daughter to work for the day. The Grammy winner brought River Rose out to perform a duet of her 2015 track “Heartbeat Song” together while performing as part of her Las Vegas residency in 2023. 

“[River’s] been jamming to this song since she was a baby,” Clarkson explained to the audience prior to their performance. “She loves this song so much, so she was like, ‘Can I sing this song?’ She picked her dress, y’all. River Rose, come on out here!”

Clarkson also made sure to shower her daughter in praise after their performance, adding, “You look gorgeous! You did amazing. I love you.”
