Vivian Wilson Talks to Teen Vogue About Elon Musk, Her “Pathetic Man-Child,” “F-cking Cringe” Dad

Vivian Jenna Wilson is the 20-year-old daughter of Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, but she’s not rich in the financial sense. In a cover interview (Wilson’s first) with Teen Vogue published Thursday, Wilson revealed that she’s been financially independent from her bajillionaire dad since 2020, which also happens to be the year she last spoke to him, as well as the year she came out as transgender. How does she feel about that? The self-crowned “Queen of Threads” and prolific poster only needs two words: “Thank God.”

What Wilson is already rich in at her young age is material for a someday-memoir. If there was a 21 Under 21 list of absolutely unhinged family drama playing out on the public stage, Wilson would top it.

For example: “I will say I do not actually know how many siblings I have, if you include half-siblings,” she said of Musk’s ever-expanding roster of progeny, which is currently at a publicly known 14, including herself. “That’s just a fun fact. It’s really good for two truths and a lie.” She said that she “found out about the Shivon Zilis thing”—meaning another surprise Mini-Musk mothered by the Neuralink executive—”the same time everyone else did,” and “I found out about Grimes having a second child because a drag queen posted about it on Reddit.” (RuPaul’s Drag Race vet Tatianna’s “[Not] Grimes popp[in] out another axolotl” tweet about the child, born by surrogate in 2021, was shared on the Drag Race subreddit, which Wilson frequents.)

Even though she’s thoroughly cut ties with Musk, including adding “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form” as a reason for requesting a name change and new birth certificate in 2022 in addition to wanting to reflect her gender identity, Wilson isn’t afraid to speak out against him. (Musk did not respond to Vanity Fair’s request for comment, nor did he comment to Teen Vogue. Both VF and Teen Vogue are published by Conde Nast.)

“He’s a pathetic man-child,” she said of Musk, who she characterized along with many of his associates as having “the charisma of a soaking bathrobe.”

“Why would I feel scared of him? Ohhh, he has so much power. Nah, nah, nah. I don’t give a fuck,” she continued. “Why should I be scared of this man? Because he’s rich? Oh, no, I’m trembling. Ooh, shivering in my boots here. I don’t give a fuck how much money anyone has. I don’t. I really don’t. He owns Twitter. Okay. Congratulations.”

And though she said that “the only thing that gets to live free in my mind are drag queens,” Wilson does comment publicly on current events, which often involve dear old dad.

“I’ll see things about him in the news and think, That’s fucking cringe, I should probably post about this and denounce it, which I have done a few times,” she said. She took the opportunity during the interview, too.

“The Nazi salute shit was insane,” she said of Musk’s opening gambit on Donald Trump’s inauguration day. “Honey, we’re going to call a fig a fig, and we’re going to call a Nazi salute what it was. That shit was definitely a Nazi salute.”

It’s an endless loop where Wilson says she’s aware she’s “famous for my lore,” but the impetus for her high profile is someone she wants nothing to do with.”I want to do something to truly earn the level of attention that I have been getting.”

“I don’t give a fuck about him. I really don’t,” she said. “It’s annoying that people associate me with him. I just don’t have any room to care anymore.”

That room, of course, goes to the aforementioned drag queens and a long-term fixation on The Hunger Games series. In fact, when she came out as trans via a public Instagram Story post, she paired her proclamation of “I’m trans. She/her pronouns.” with a poll: “Then in a different little text at the bottom-left of the picture was, ‘Are you Team Peeta or are you Team Gale?’”

Her opinion on that matter is as strong as her take on her dad’s character: “I am Team Peeta, obviously. Gale killed Katniss’s sister. Fuck that bitch.”
