Trump ‘saddened’ to watch Musk ‘go off the rails’ after he vowed to launch political party prez says will cause ‘chaos’

DONALD Trump has said Elon Musk has gone completely ‘off the rails” after the Tesla CEO announced he was launching a new political party.

It comes after Elon Musk said on Friday that he had set up the America Party – in a bid to challenge the Republican and Democratic two-party system.

Trump slammed Musk’s move to start the America Party, arguing that third political parties historically fail in the US and only cause “disruption and chaos”.

It is unclear whether the party has been formally registered with US election authorities.

And even should Musk wish to run for President, he won’t be able to due to the US Constitution.

The Constitution states only ‘”natural born citizens” can take the top job – meaning those born in the US, but Musk was born in Pretoria, South Africa.

Musk cited a poll on his social media platform X in which he asked whether respondents “want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system” that has dominated US politics for two centuries.

The yes-or-no survey earned more than 1.2 million responses.

He wrote on Saturday: “By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!”

“When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom,” he wrote.

Besides criticising the launch of America Party, Trump launched a series of other attacks in his post on Truth Social on Sunday.

He personally attacked Musk, claiming he had gone “off the rails” and been a “train wreck” over the past five weeks.

The US president also claimed Musk asked one of his close friends to run NASA – who was “a blue blooded Democrat” – suggesting this was “inappropriate” and a conflict of interest given Musk’s own space business.

It comes after a massive fall-out between the US president and the world’s richest man over the new budget law.

Musk claimed the “Big, Beautiful Bill” would bankrupt the US.
