Silent Hill remake latest news – everything we know

When is the Silent Hill remake release date? The original Silent Hill is among the most difficult games to obtain these days. In fact, since it was removed from the PlayStation store on PS3 and Vita, the only way to get your hands on it now is to pay exorbitant prices for the physical disk or resort to the HD Collection version.
This won’t change, but Bloober Team’s upcoming Silent Hill remake at least gives fans a chance to revisit Harry Mason’s story once more. Following the success of Bloober’s Silent Hill 2 remake, we’re sure there are also plenty of new series fans who can’t wait to experience one of the best horror games for the first time. Whichever camp you fall into, here’s what we know about the Silent Hill remake so far.
Silent Hill remake release date estimate
While not yet announced, the Silent Hill remake release date could be around June 2027, though we certainly hope we don’t have to wait that long.
This estimate is based on the turnaround time of Bloober’s Silent Hill 2 remake. First announced in October 2022, the horror game remake was released in October 2024, almost exactly two years later. If we apply this to the Silent Hill remake, which was first teased on June 12, 2025, we land on a Summer 2027 release date.
Bloober Team is also currently working on Cronos: The New Dawn, which is scheduled for a 2025 release date. With this in mind, we’d expect Cronos to release before we get any more big news regarding Silent Hill.
While the Silent Hill platforms haven’t been officially confirmed yet, we can also assume the remake will launch on PC and PlayStation 5, the same as the Silent Hill 2 remake before it.

Trailers
So far, there is only one teaser for Bloober’s next Silent Hill remake, and it tells us virtually nothing. The unexpected 20-second clip debuted right at the end of the Konami Press Start broadcast on June 12, 2025, and simply shows the words Silent Hill, accompanied by the Konami and Bloober Team logos, a soft fog, and the undeniable, haunting sounds of the Silent Hill soundtrack.
Hopefully, this teaser implies we can expect to see original composer Akira Yamaoka return to work on the sound design once more, having also worked on the Silent Hill 2 remake.
Gameplay and plot
As a remake, and the second from Bloober Team, we can make a fairly safe bet as to what gameplay will look and feel like. For those unaware, James Sunderland doesn’t appear in Silent Hill, and our protagonist here is instead Harry Mason, a young father searching for his missing daughter in the town of Silent Hill.
Silent Hill is very different from Silent Hill 2, and those new to the first game should be aware of that. Far less psychological in theme than Silent Hill 2, the original game features themes around religion and cult – think Resident Evil 4 as opposed to the earlier games. The locations are also different, and we’ll be exploring the likes of the Amusement Park and Midwich Elementary School. However, the general gameplay feels similar to SH2 as you guide your male protagonist around the foggy town.
Using what we know about the Silent Hill 2 remake, we can expect a longer game than the 1999 original with additional areas and puzzles. Meanwhile, the plot itself, the characters, scenery, and boss fights should all remain the same.
While that’s all we know about the Silent Hill remake so far, we’ll be keeping a close eye out for new details, and we’ll share them with you as soon as they arrive.
