Hey, Vecna. You’re terminated, f—er!
Stranger Things 5 revealed the first look at Terminator icon Linda Hamilton in the final season’s first official trailer, which dropped Wednesday. The actress, also known for Dante’s Peak and Children of the Corn, arrives in the role of Dr. Kay, who’s surrounded by her own personal SWAT team.
Netflix also released a fresh plot synopsis that offers confirmed details as to the story’s endgame.
The fifth and final season, which is split into three different parts, picks up in the fall of 1987, more than a year after the events of season 4. Hawkins looks like a hellscape as the town is scarred by the opening of the Rifts to the Upside Down, and monsters are just popping out of them left and right.

“Our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna,” the synopsis reads. “But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding.” Hence the presence of characters like Hamilton’s Dr. Kay.
“As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread,” the description continues. “The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.”
In addition to Hamilton, the Stranger Things 5 trailer features the return of Jamie Campbell Bower’s Vecna, who arrives in the haunting final few seconds to declare, “Found you!” There’s also a reference to Joseph Quinn’s scene-stealing Eddie Munson; red paint sprayed on his grave reads, “Burn in Hell.”
And fans finally get some glimpses at the state of Sadie Sink’s Max, who was last seen in a coma at the end of season 4, being watched over closely by Caleb McLaughlin’s Lucas. Later bits of the trailer footage shows Lucas dragging around a still-comatose Max as he tries to hide them both from encroaching Demogorgons.
