There is No Game: Wrong Dimension is the Epic Game Store’s freebie this week

- This week’s free Epic Game Store offering is There is No Game: Wrong Dimension
- The quirky point-and-click adventure has received plenty of praise since it first launched
- Our own App Army readers enjoyed their time with it back in 2021
Since Epic started their freebie incentive on mobile, there’s been some excellent stuff, with Cultist Simulator, Limbo, and Knights of the Old Republic chief among them. Today’s freebie, There is No Game: Wrong Dimension, doesn’t quite have the same high-level profile as those, but it does have an important stamp of approval.
You see, around four years ago, our App Army readers shared their thoughts on Draw Me a Pixel’s point-and-click adventure, and it received universal praise. Of course, it scored well on Metacritic, too, earning it indie cult classic status. So, whether you prefer the word of the critics or the people, this one comes highly recommended.
What’s it all about then? Well, that’s a fun question to answer. As you’ve probably guessed from the name, we’re dealing with quirkiness of the highest order. You play as The User, an individual who refuses to accept The Game’s insistence that it’s not, in fact, a game. After some continued poking and an inability to believe what’s been said, the software breaks and sucks you into the titular wrong dimension.
What’s the point (and click)?
From there, you have to make your way through a series of scenes inspired by various genres. There’s point-and-clicks, of course, a top-down adventure, and even an icky free-to-play incremental idler infested with loot boxes. As you’ve no doubt guessed, the fourth wall is well and truly in pieces. Fans of The Stanley Parable will feel welcome here.
It’s absolutely worth downloading, then, particularly at the low, low price of nothing. And once you’ve finished that, we’ve got a list of the best point-and-click adventures for iOS and Android, so give that a look once you’re finished dealing with Mr Glitch.
Outside of Epic’s storefront, There is No Game: Wrong Dimension is also available on the App Store and Google Play, where it’s priced at $4.99. Feel free to pick it up from one of those places, if you’d prefer, by clicking the buttons below.
