EUR Car Review: 2025 Mazda CX-70 PHEV Premium Plus | VIDEO
The 2025 Mazda CX-70 PHEV Premium Plus gives you all the lux and great gas mileage.

*The 2025 Mazda CX-70 PHEV is a midsize, two-row crossover that seamlessly blends sophisticated design, engaging driving dynamics, and some pretty good technology. As Mazda‘s largest five-passenger model with lots of cargo space, the CX-70 PHEV offers efficiency and luxury. .Let’s get into it.

The Look: The 2025 Mazda CX-70 PHEV Premium Plus is the kind of SUV that turns heads without trying too hard. Mazda’s signature design language really shines with its sleek, sculpted lines, a wide, confident build, and tasteful chrome accents that give it a refined, sort of athletic look.

The Premium Plus trim takes the upscale vibe even further, with 21-inch alloy wheels, a gloss black grille, and adaptive LED headlights that feel more luxury sedan than your typical family SUV. Inside, it’s all about comfort and elegance. Nappa leather seats, real maple wood trim, and subtle ambient lighting create a cabin that feels thoughtfully curated. It’s the right amount of style without being pompous and inaccessible.

The Drive: The CX-70 PHEV Premium Plus delivers a smooth, capable, and surprisingly punchy drive. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine provides a little bit of that power one might like in an all-gas vehicle. Whether you’re merging onto the highway or navigating back roads, there’s plenty of power on tap. It glides with ease and handles curves like a champ.

As for efficiency? That’s where the plug-in hybrid system shines. You get about 26 miles of all-electric range—perfect for running errands or commuting without burning gas. When the battery runs low, the system shifts to hybrid mode, delivering an estimated 56 MPGe combined and 25 mpg on gas alone. It’s the kind of efficiency that lets you forget the last time you hit a gas station.

The Tech: Mazda doesn’t overload you with gimmicks in the CX-70 Premium Plus—it’s all clean, smart, and genuinely useful. The 12.3-inch center display is probably my biggest design gripe. I think this look is a bit outdated and doesn’t quite pair well with the modern look Mazda’s got going on in the rest of the interior. The infotainment system, though, does wirelessly connect with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In this top trim, you also get a crisp head-up display, ventilated front seats, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, and a 360° camera that makes parking feel effortless.

Safety tech is abundant and standard with adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic braking all come built-in. It’s the kind of tech that blends seamlessly into your drive—reassuring, never intrusive.

The 2025 Mazda CX-70 PHEV Premium Plus is a refined, efficient SUV that blends luxury, utility, and fun in a way few others in its class do. It’s a stylish and sensible choice for drivers who want a premium experience without shouting about it.
