Survival are a dime a dozen nowadays. Players often have to collect resources to build equipment and shelter to face a hostile world. There are many variations within this category.
That’s why we’re going to highlight these 15 survival games that put each player’s skills to the test. These experiences can be played alone or with others, and sometimes include a strong dose of exploration in immense universes.
It’s hard to categorize a survival game. What differentiates the titles in this genre is their respective universes. Take No Man’s Sky, for example, which offers us an entire galaxy to explore. We can build a base, explore entire planets, and do it all in conditions that can be extreme. All with a multiplayer dimension.
In fact, Grounded also puts the emphasis on cooperative survival in a garden full of deadly insects. Subnautica literally plunges us into the ocean depths of another planet. You need to manage resources, feed yourself and equip yourself well to face the many dangers of this world.
The community aspect is also very powerful on some survival games. While we didn’t select Minecraft (which everyone knows), we did choose Ark Survival Ascended, which pits us against some extremely fearsome dinosaurs. But beware, not all players have good intentions.
Finally, there are some truly hardcore survival games that are not for everyone. Such is the case with Sons of the Forest, which is is capable of terrorizing even the most hardened players. Escape from Tarkov, for its part, pushes ever further in the direction of realism in the online FPS genre. The slightest mistake can be paid for in cash!
