The next Metro will be darker because of the war in Ukraine

In March 2010, the excellent Metro 2033 was released on consoles and PC. Two further instalments followed until 2019 with Metro Exodus. The VR spin-off Metro Awakening was launched last year.
Studio 4A Games has decided to celebrate this fifteenth anniversary with a short video and a message published on its website. In it, the Ukrainian company thanks its fans and says a few words about the next episode.
This new-generation Metro will be darker than its predecessors, all because of the war that has been raging between Ukraine and Russia for three years now.
"As we said in our last message, in 2022, the Russian invasion changed the way we wanted to tell the story of the next Metro game […] As art is inspired by real life for many developers in Ukraine, we drew on this real-life experience to create an even darker story. The themes already present in Metro became increasingly apparent and important."
"Conflict, the struggle for power, the horrors of tyranny and the price of freedom have been part of our lives for over three years. We live and work in times of war, and this inevitably influences the games we create."
