‘Felicity’ reboot might not be possible over cast’s age, Scott Foley says

Keri Russell and Scott Foley graduated from the college-centric Felicity TV series long ago, according to the latter.

In a new interview on Good Morning America, the 52-year-old actor fielded questions Friday about his new role in Will Trent, his (self-admittedly confusing) upcoming performance in Scream 7, and the potential for a reboot of Felicity due to the 1998 WB drama’s enduring popularity.

Host Michael Strahan asked Foley if he’d be interested in doing a Felicity revival, though the performer cast light doubt on the prospect.

“Of course I’d do it. My question to you, Michael: I’m going to be 53 this year. I feel like the Felicity reboot window may have passed. It’s Cocoon Felicity,” Foley joked, suggesting that the cast’s age (he’s 52, Russell is 48) makes them too old to revisit the show, which revolved around the life of Russell’s titular college student.

Foley continued, again joking about the 1985 film Cocoon, about a group of seniors who become energized with youth after an encounter with aliens.

“I feel like I’m Wilford Brimley’s age when he did Cocoon.” In fact, Foley is currently around two years older, as the late Brimley, who was born in 1934, was 50 years old at the time of Cocoon‘s original theatrical run.

Foley further added that “if they’ll watch it, I’m all for it” in terms of a Felicity revival, and also praised Russell as “undoubtedly a true talent, a true beauty, one of the best there is” in Hollywood.

Russell recently expressed at the 2025 Golden Globes her interest in doing a Felicity reboot, while Foley previously said in 2018 that he’d also be down to join a revival of the show that aired its final season in 2002.

Speaking on stage during a reunion panel at the ATX Television Festival, Foley recalled that he once dismissed the thought of a reboot because he felt “that the show was so specific to the characters in that time of their lives that to do it again would be an injustice to the show that we all made and we all love.”

However, speaking at the panel with his former costars, he changed his mind.

“I would kind of love to work with you guys,” Foley said at the time. “I would love the opportunity to find out what happened to Richard, to Javier, to Julie, to Elena. I don’t know how it would work; I don’t know what the story would be, but I would love that opportunity.”
