The Elder Scrolls 6 Has Crossed the “Quite Playable” Milestone – Rumour

While The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced quite some time ago, Bethesda has been largely quiet about development progress for the highly-anticipated RPG. A new report, however, indicates that development has been going well, and that The Elder Scrolls 6 has hit a new internal milestone, being described as “quite playable”. The report comes courtesy of industry insider Jez Cordon on the Xbox Two podcast.

While Corden, along with co-host YouTuber Rand al Thor 19, were discussing the plans at Microsoft regarding Bethesda and what games the studio has been working on, Corden said that The Elder Scrolls 6 is “quite playable”. The statement came about as a response to Rand asking whether the RPG had hit full production yet.

We’ll put it this way,” said Corden about what he has heard about the development of The Elder Scrolls 6. “When we did our predictions for the showcase and we said that we expect Elder Scrolls to be there, for me, it was an educated guess.” He does, however, go on to note that getting sources for Bethesda-related things is difficult.

This report comes just half a month after the last time Corden spoke about The Elder Scrolls 6, where he reported that a new trailer was being circulated at Microsoft.

Back in April, former Bethesda animator Jeremy Bryant had spoken about how he doesn’t expect the studio to expand its team to work on The Elder Scrolls 6. Bryant, who has previously worked on several games including The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, Fallout 4 and Starfield, spoke about producer Todd Howard’s vision for the game and how the studio’s process doesn’t usually involve growing teams over time.

“Todd [Howard] has the vision for the game that he wants to make and he knows he needs X number of people to do it,” said Bryant. “When you road map out what you’re going to do you can see if you need more devs, and it was obvious that we did. Probably the only way, really, to grow that fast is to kind of wholesale absorb, you can’t hire that fast I don’t think. It would be hard to hire onesies twosies and get up to the scale you needed.”

When asked if he believed Bethesda would expand its headcount for The Elder Scrolls 6, Bryant simply said, “I wouldn’t think so,” before going on to compare Bethesda to Rockstar Games.

“[Rockstar] are such masters,” he said. “Their games are so polished. You always wonder, ‘how do they do it?’ GTA 6 yeah it’s taken like 10 years, I get it, but I went and looked at the credits for Red Dead and they had like 500 animators. There was like 80, 85 just gameplay animators and another 80 cinematic ones and another 100 face ones. Those team sizes, it’s bonkers. I think the overall dev size they said was around 1,600 I think on Red Dead 2.”

The Elder Scrolls 6 was originally announced all the way back in 2018.
