‘Stranger Things,’ ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ game lets you join the Hellfire Club (exclusive)

This is the closest Stranger Things fans will get to joining Eddie Munson’s Hellfire Club.

Wizards of the Coast, the home of Dungeons & Dragons, is planning to release a new version of the table-top role-playing game called Stranger Things: Welcome to the Hellfire Club, Entertainment Weekly can exclusively reveal.

According to Justice Arman, Managing Game Designer at Wizards of the Coast, this will give fans of the Netflix series “the opportunity to experience Eddie Munson’s secret trove of adventures at the Hawkins High Hellfire Club, which will really be a special experience for fans and give them an opportunity to form their own Hellfire Clubs,” he says in a statement to EW.

“There is a faux-nostalgia aspect with specially crafted components that lean into the look and feel of the show, modern ’80s trends, and Eddie’s love for rock music,” Arman adds.

Joseph Quinn, who stars in the upcoming movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps, delivered a scene-stealing performance as fan-favorite Eddie Munson, the metal-loving Dungeon Master of Hawkins High’s Dungeons & Dragons group, the Hellfire Club, on Stranger Things season 4.

Stranger Things: Welcome to the Hellfire Club brings the D&D you saw on the show to your table with four adventures that each connect to the first four seasons. These adventures, which Wizards of the Coast worked closely with Netflix and the Stranger Things team (including creators Matt and Ross Duffer) to create, will include a host of creatures, including Demobats and Demodogs.

Arman also teases “one brand-new member of the Stranger Things monster family.”

Included in Stranger Things: Welcome to the Hellfire Club are four D&D-style adventures; a welcome letter from Eddie; a quick-start guide; pre-generated character sheets for five characters across three levels of play; character and monster tokens; and cards for magic items, monsters, and spells.

Each adventure also comes with its individual poster-sized map and handout, but the pièce de résistance is a double-sided poster depicting “Greyhawkins,” which is Eddie’s imagined realm from Stranger Things where these adventures take place. The Greyhawkins map will be included on the back of a Hellfire Club poster.

Stranger Things: Welcome to the Hellfire Club will launch Oct. 7, ahead of the premiere of the show’s fifth and final season, which will be released on Netflix in three parts. The first arrives Nov. 26, with Vol. 2 arriving Christmas Day and the series finale episode arriving New Year’s Eve.

Based on this week’s trailer, Eddie Munson is referenced in season 5.

D&D has played a role in Stranger Things since the first season, so there’s always been a connection between Wizards of the Coast and the Netflix series,” Arman says. “Now, as we look forward to the debut of the fifth and final season, Stranger Things: Welcome to the Hellfire Club builds on that history with a celebration of D&D, Stranger Things, and our favorite heavy-metal Dungeon Master, Eddie Munson.”
