The Masters 2025 Round 4 LIVE: Leaderboard and scores as Rory McIlroy battles Bryson DeChambeau

McIlroy in the sand again

Are the wheels coming off the McIlroy train already…? His tee shot on the par-five 2ns stays right and for a second hole in a row, he’s in the fairway bunker.

Meanwhile, DeChambeau cremates a drive down the fairway. Advantage Bryson…

Elsewhere, Justin Rose also sees a shot go as he drops back to -6.

McIlroy double bogeys the 1st to drop back

Tricky par putt for McIlroy and he leaves it high of the hole. He’s still got five feet back the other way for bogey! No dice!

Oh dear Rory. It stays left of the hole and it’s an immediate double bogey. He’s straight back to -10.

DeChambeau now has the chance to stick with him at -10 with a par putt… Similar line to Rory’s, so he got a read and the American finds the heart of the hole! McIlroy’s lead is wiped out within one hole.

Leaderboard: -10: McIlroy, DeChambeau; –7: Rose, Aberg, Conners

McIlroy and DeChambeau battling to save par

Neither man could reach the green with their second shot, meaning both need to get an up-and-down to save par.

McIlroy is first with his third and it’s not great. Races past the hole and leaves himself 18 feet or so for par.

DeChambeau is closer and his pitch checks up and leaves him about seven feet for the save.

Scheffler saves par as Conners falters

Scottie Scheffler needed a fast start today to put himself in contention but instead he’s scrambling to save par on the 1st. Good putt from 10 feet to salvage it but that’s a par five he needed to be birdieing really. He’s still way back on -5.

Corey Conners also off to a slow start as he misses a five-footer for par on the 1st and drops back to -7, alongside Ludvig Aberg. Not what the Canadian needed

McIlroy and DeChambeau produce sketchy tee shots

Not the start McIlroy wanted. His tee shot stays right and lands in the fairway bunker.

Meanwhile, DeChambeau takes three-wood and watches it veer left, into the pine straw over there.

You think even the best in the world get nervous on an occasion like this?

Rory and Bryson ready to go

Here we go. This is it, folks! Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau are on the 1st tee – this could be epic!

McIlroy heads in with a two-stroke lead but was beaten by DeChambeau in similar circumstances in last year’s US Open. Is this finally Rory’s time?

Aberg starts with a birdie

Ludvig Aberg is another man in the category of players who could make things interesting with a really low round.

He makes the perfect start with a nice 10-footer for birdie on the first green. He moves to -7 immediately – three shots behind DeChambeau and five behind McIlroy…

Rose lays down early marker

While it appears this will be a head to head between McIlroy and DeChambeau, it will be interesting to see if anyone else can produce the round of their life to get in the mix.

Justin Rose could be that man. He started the day at -5, seven shots back from Rory but has birdied the 1st to move to -6. He’ll need a few more of those but that’s an ideal start.

How Rory McIlroy seized control of the Masters

Rory McIlroy’s record-breaking third round at Augusta is the reason that he is heading into Sunday with a two-shot lead.

A blistering start, with six threes in a row, paved the way to a second consecutive round of 66 and the overnight lead ahead of Bryson DeChambeau.

Matsuyama shoots 66 and Morikawa starts strongly

A brilliant round by Hideki Matsuyama who shoots a 66 to climb from +4 to -2. A bogey on the last actually saw him drop from -3 but that shouldn’t sully all the good work before then.

Meanwhile, Collin Morikawa has birdied the 2nd to climb into the top 10 at -4, although playing partner Viktor Hovland has had a stinker of a start with back-to-back bogeys to fall to -1.
