Switch 2 price could rise in the US due to Trump's new tariffs

In the USA, the Nintendo Switch 2 is priced at $449.99, which is more affordable than in Europe, where the machine goes for €469.99. However, the USA could very quickly lose this advantage.

President Donald Trump has decided to impose tariffs of at least 10% on all imports into the USA. Vietnam will be hard hit by this standard, which comes into force on April 9, as the country will face a tariff of 46%. In Cambodia, the tariff will be 49%.

Unfortunately, Nintendo recently transferred its production and spare parts supply from China to Vietnam. The manufacturer is therefore likely to be hit hard by these new tariffs.

According to the Financial Times, the Japanese firm may decide to raise the price of its Switch 2 in the USA to absorb this penalty. Nintendo is said to have taken the initiative, however, by stocking several thousand copies of its machine directly in the United States. Once these stocks have been used up, the brand will have to import new units, and possibly raise its prices if the customs duties remain in force.

Add to this the fact that the Trump administration is applying a 25% tax on computer and console imports and we could be seeing yet another price hike for the entire video game sector in the USA.
