*On July 23, childcare mogul and executive producer Sherri J. White hosted “Cartel Code: LIVE,” an exclusive 21+ networking and watch party at MODEx Studio in Atlanta.

The lavish event, moderated by award-winning producer and actress Melody Shari, welcomed over 100 of Atlanta’s elite, including celebrity guests like “Real Housewives of Atlanta” creator Princess Banton-Lofters, restaurateur Ebony Austin, and In the Black Network CMO Chanel Nicole Scott. Guests, dressed in elegant pastels, mingled amid stunning decor by The Bella Xperience, enjoying music, gourmet bites, and an electrifying sneak peek of “The Childcare Cartel,” a docuseries set to reshape reality television.

“The inspiration behind the child care cartel honestly was birthed in the fact that right now, the child care industry is really struggling,” White shared during our exclusive interview.

Her vision was to create a platform that highlights both the triumphs and challenges of the childcare industry while fostering a sense of community. “I wanted a community that was so big that was like a sisterhood or just a place where anybody in this industry could look at my story or look at another cast member story and say, wow, these are the same issues that I’m having,” she explained.

The series, featuring White alongside Janaya Burke, Keisha “Starr” Archer, and Sydney Jordan, showcases their hustle to build childcare empires in Atlanta’s competitive daycare scene.

White intentionally selected women at different stages of their childcare careers to ensure broad representation. “It was very important to me to ensure that I got women from all different levels of child care industry,” she said, noting the inclusion of seasoned veterans, newcomers, and aspiring entrepreneurs. This diversity allows viewers to connect with the cast, fostering inspiration for anyone pursuing entrepreneurship or caregiving.

Unlike typical reality TV, “The Childcare Cartel” steers clear of negativity, focusing instead on empowerment and authenticity.

“I focused on the aspects of our personal and professional lives that were dramatic in a positive way,” White emphasized. She highlighted the inherent drama of running a childcare business, stating, “add in kids, add in their parents, add in staff members, and adults in general, the drama is there without it having to be so negative and derogatory.”

This approach redefines unscripted television, particularly for women of color, by showcasing integrity and role models who are “very serious about being a role model for the next generation.”

The series also underscores the importance of generational wealth. “I want viewers to understand that it’s already hard enough to be a successful Black business owner,” White said, sharing her personal motivation to create a legacy for her daughter and future generations. She hopes to inspire younger audiences to embrace family businesses, noting, “it’s so important that somebody in that lineage follows it. Because that ability to be able to do something so massive may be the only thing that keeps this bloodline afloat for generations and generations to come.”

White is determined to shift perceptions about childcare providers, often undervalued as mere babysitters.

“There’s a big difference between being a babysitter and being an educator,” she asserted, emphasizing the dedication required to ensure children “come happy, leave happy, and are educated within that time gap.” She added, “We’re single-handedly responsible for ensuring that these children grow up to be somebody,” often stepping in where parents, stretched by work and financial pressures, cannot.

The Cartel Code: LIVE event culminated in a standing ovation for the series’ premiere, with guests praising its blend of ambition, entertainment, and sisterhood. “The Childcare Cartel” promises to change the narrative around Black women in television, proving that building a legacy in the high-stakes world of childcare is a story worth telling.

While the premiere date remains unannounced, the buzz surrounding this groundbreaking docuseries continues to grow.
