Shannon Price Faces Polygraph in Gary Coleman Death Case on A&E’s ‘Lie Detector: Truth or Deception’

*A&E’s new series, “Lie Detector: Truth or Deception,” debuts with a gripping two-hour premiere this summer, unpacking the lingering questions surrounding the 2010 death of “Diff’rent Strokes” star Gary Coleman.
Hosted by acclaimed investigative journalist Tony Harris, the show features former FBI agent and seasoned polygraph examiner George Olivo administering lie detector tests to individuals seeking to clear their names. In the premiere, Coleman’s ex-wife, Shannon Price, submits to a polygraph to confront years of public speculation about her role in the actor’s controversial passing, despite never being charged.
According to the press release, the episode revisits the circumstances of Coleman’s death, which has fueled debate for over a decade. Price, who faced scrutiny for her decision to remove Coleman from life support after a fall, aims to dispel accusations and reshape public perception.
Earlier this year, Price addressed their turbulent marriage in an interview with RadarOnline, acknowledging, “You know… we had our spats like every couple does and yeah there were some physical attacks on both ends, but you know I did not come from a very good upbringing and I feel like sometimes that anger or that physical that did come out was due to that.”
She added, “It’s not that I wanted that but I think you know with my upbringing there were a lot of triggers that set that.” Price has consistently denied any involvement in Coleman’s death, a stance she hopes the polygraph will validate.

“Lie Detector: Truth or Deception” also exploring other high-profile cases. The seven-episode series includes Matheau Moore, acquitted in 2022 of his wife Emily Noble’s murder, seeking to silence doubters; Edward Ates, who served 20 years for a neighbor’s murder he claims he didn’t commit; and Jesse Holton, accused but never tried for his parents’ 2016 deaths. Each episode offers expert analysis of polygraph results, shedding light on whether truth prevails or new questions arise.
Building on the success of A&E’s 2024 special “Casey Anthony’s Parents: The Lie Detector Test,” the series is produced by York & Wilder, with executive producers Matt Sprouse, Elaine Frontain Bryant, Shelly Tatro, and Brad Abramson. Mike Saffran serves as executive in charge of production. Through Harris’s incisive reporting and Olivo’s expertise, “Lie Detector: Truth or Deception” promises to captivate audiences with its unflinching look at unresolved mysteries.
The series premieres Thursday, July 10th at 9pm ET/PT with a special two-hour premiere followed by new episodes Thursdays at 10pm ET/PT beginning July 17th.
