See Netflix’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’ cast side-by-side with the 2005 film stars

  • Netflix is currently producing a six-episode miniseries adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice.
  • Dolly Alderton will serve as writer and executive producer on a “faithful, classic” take on the novel.
  • Emma Corrin, Jack Lowden, and Olivia Colman lead the ensemble cast.

Since its release more than 200 years ago, Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice has been adapted nearly 20 times, and that’s not counting the looser, more modernized riffs on the story. The latest, and the book’s first series adaptation in three decades, is now in development at Netflix.

“Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it,” said series writer and executive producer Dolly Alderton (Everything I Know About Love). “Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for romantic comedy – it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life.”

Set during the late 18th century, Pride and Prejudice is among the most enduring examples of the tug-of-war between love and money, as the clever and vibrant Elizabeth “Lizzy” Bennet struggles to reconcile her family’s financial security with her own desires.

Netflix’s six-episode miniseries will be the first proper adaptation of Austen’s novel since 2005’s acclaimed Pride & Prejudice, in which Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen played the story’s central lovers.

Ready to meet the ensemble of A-listers and newcomers leading Netflix’s new adaptation? Read on for a look at Netflix’s Pride and Prejudice cast (and see them next to the 2005 film’s stars).

Emma Corrin will lead Netflix’s Pride and Prejudice as Elizabeth “Lizzy” Bennet and serve as an executive producer. They’ve got some big shoes to fill, as Lizzy has previously been portrayed by powerhouse performers like Knightley, Jennifer Ehle, and Elizabeth Garvie, among others.

Calling the role a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity, Corrin shared their excitement with Netflix’s Tudum, “To be able to bring this iconic character to life alongside Olivia and Jack [Lowden], with Dolly’s phenomenal scripts, is truly the greatest honor,” said Corrin, who uses they/them pronouns. “I can’t wait for a new generation to fall in love with this story all over again.”

Corrin is a rising star in Hollywood, having chased their Emmy-nominated turn as Diana, Princess of Wales on The Crown (2020) with juicy roles in films like My Policeman (2022), Nosferatu (2024), and Black Mirror (2025). They also leapt into the Marvel universe as villain Cassandra Nova in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024).

A veteran of stage and screen, the 35-year-old Lowden has Emmy, Golden Globe, and BAFTA nominations under his belt. He’s been leading the Apple TV+ hit Slow Horses alongside Gary Oldman since 2022. His resume also includes work with acclaimed filmmakers like Christopher Nolan (Dunkirk), Steve McQueen (Small Axe: Mangrove), and Terence Davies (Benediction).

Last year, he appeared in a key role on Amazon’s Lord of the Rings prequel, The Rings of Power. Upcoming is Ella McCay, a new comedy from legendary filmmaker James L. Brooks, in which he’ll star opposite Woody Harrelson, Albert Brooks, and Ayo Edebiri.

Since her days charming (and squirming) on Channel 4’s sublime Peep Show (2003–2015), Colman has won an Academy Award, three Golden Globes, and a pair of Emmys, among many other accolades.

A selection of the English actress’ award-winning work includes ITV crime drama Broadchurch (2013), John le Carré adaptation The Night Manager (2016), and Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag (2016–2019).

Colman has received Oscar nods for the films The Favourite (2018), The Father (2020), and The Lost Daughter (2021). She was just nominated for yet another Emmy for her guest turn on The Bear (2023–2024).

Rufus Sewell, with his piercing eyes and severe features, will costar in Pride and Prejudice as the dry, cynical Mr. Bennet, Lizzy’s father. Donald Sutherland, who died in 2024, carried the role in the 2005 film.

In addition to a Tony nomination for his stage work, Sewell received an Emmy nomination for guest-starring on Amazon Prime’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2018).

The British actor has been a highlight of numerous projects, from movies like Dark City (1998) and A Knight’s Tale (2001) to shows such as The Man in the High Castle (2014–2019) and The Diplomat (2023–present).

Shaw, an Honorary Commander of the Order of the British Empire, has won numerous awards for her stage work, as well as three Emmy nominations for Killing Eve (2018–2022) and Fleabag (2019), respectively.

This won’t be her first (or her last) Austen adaptation. She previously appeared in 1995’s Persuasion and will soon star in Sense and Sensibility with Daisy Edgar-Jones.

Harry Potter fans will recognize her as Petunia Dursley (2001–2010). Her filmography also includes work with respected filmmakers like Neil Jordan (The Butcher Boy), Brian De Palma (The Black Dahlia), and Terrence Malick (The Tree of Life).

Shaw has been especially prolific on the small screen in recent years, with leading roles on Andor (2022), True Detective: Night Country (2024), and Bad Sisters (2024).

McCormack began his career on the Irish soap opera Fair City (2015–2016) before rising to prominence as Isaiah Jesus on the hit crime series Peaky Blinders (2019–2022). He would go on to earn a BAFTA nomination for his turn as the title character in Good Luck to You, Leo Grande (2022), in which he starred opposite Emma Thompson.

She went on to star in the BBC Three fantasy series Domino Day (2024) and lead the “Bête Noire” episode in the latest season of Black Mirror (2025).

The 19-year-old Sermon has just two screen credits to her name at this time, but they’re big ones. In Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Jurassic World Dominion (2022), she plays a key character, Maisie Lockwood, who is, well… not as she first appears.

Louis Partridge as George Wickham

The 22-year-old Partridge began his career with roles in Pan (2015) and Paddington 2 (2017), but found greater success playing Tewkesbury in Netflix’s Enola Holmes film series (2020–2022).
