  • Emily Blunt has begun filming The Devil Wears Prada 2.
  • See the first photos of the actress return in character Emily Charlton’s impeccable style.
  • EW previously reported that Adrian Grenier would not reprise his role as Nate Cooper.

Paris might still elude her, but former Runway magazine assistant Emily Charlton is once again stomping the streets of New York City in fabulous fashion.

The first photos of Emily Blunt reprising her breakthrough role in The Devil Wears Prada 2 circulated on Tuesday, with the English actress filming scenes opposite Anne Hathaway in New York City.

Blunt hit the set in a shoulder-to-toe, black-and-white pinstripe jumper paired with a white button-down shirt and killer sunglasses. Her character’s signature fiery hair is also back.

Earlier this month, the first on-set photos of Meryl Streep’s return as Runway magazine editor Miranda Priestly also circulated, with the Oscar-winning actress’ hair once again dyed to Priestly’s icy tone as she hit the streets in a purple blouse and a leather skirt.

Hathaway celebrated the start of the film’s production on July 21 by posting a photo of her first day in front of cameras as Andy Sachs, the aspiring journalist who, in The Devil Wears Prada, reluctantly took a job as Miranda’s assistant before rising through the ranks of the ruthless fashion world.

Also returning for The Devil Wears Prada 2 are Stanley Tucci as Miranda’s right-hand Runway man Nigel Kipling, as well Tracie Thoms as Andy’s longtime friend, Lily, and Tibor Feldman as Runway executive Irv Ravitz.

Entertainment Weekly previously exclusively reported that Adrian Grenier — who portrayed Andy’s boyfriend Nate, a character the internet labeled the “real villain” of the original 2006 film — would not be back for the sequel. EW later revealed that Evil actor Patrick Brammall had been cast as Andy’s new love interest.

Unconfirmed reports have also indicated that new cast members include Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Simone Ashley, and more.

David Frankel, the original film’s director, will helm the sequel after directing the first film to a $327 million global box office haul and two Oscar nominations for Streep’s performance and for Patricia Field’s costumes.

Writer Aline Brosh McKenna, who first adapted author Lauren Weisberger’s The Devil Wears Prada novel that was inspired by her time working under Vogue‘s Anna Wintour, also penned the sequel’s screenplay. OG producer Wendy Finerman is returning to produce The Devil Wears Prada 2.

Though exact plot details for the sequel are still under wraps, Weisberger did tease in a 2021 cast and crew reunion interview with EW that a sequel was not “out of the realm of possibility” as “a lot of conversations” happened about it leading up to that point.

“Magazines and publishing have changed so much. This is a period of time where [Andy] took a physical book to someone’s house every day so she could leaf through it,” McKenna elaborated on where a sequel might pick up. “Maybe they still do that, but I doubt it. It had its moment!”
