Second Trailer for ‘Weapons’ Unveils Chilling Mystery from ‘Barbarian’s’ Zach Cregger | WATCH

*A haunting new trailer for “Weapons,” the upcoming horror-thriller from “Barbarian” director Zach Cregger, has dropped, promising a gripping and expansive cinematic experience.
Set for release in theaters and IMAX on August 8, 2025, by Warner Bros. Pictures, the film dives into the eerie disappearance of nearly an entire third-grade class, leaving a small town unraveling under the weight of an unsettling mystery.
The trailer, released by Warner Bros., centers on a chilling event: at 2:17 a.m., all but one child from Ms. Gandy’s class vanish from their homes, as detailed on the fictional Maybrook News website created for the film’s viral campaign. The site notes, “At 2:17am, Wednesday morning, a group of 3rd graders from our school in Ms. Gandy’s class, who had recently transferred after an incident at her previous school, voluntarily left their homes.” The cryptic circumstances hint at a sinister force, amplified by the trailer’s tense atmosphere.
Cregger, who wrote and directs, draws from personal tragedy, describing the project as a way to process profound loss.
“I had a tragedy in my life that was really, really tough,” he told Entertainment Weekly, per Newsweek.
“Someone very, very, very close to me died suddenly and, honestly, I was so grief-stricken that I just started writing Weapons, not out of any ambition, but just as a way to reckon with my own emotions.” He also revealed autobiographical elements, saying, “There’s certain chapters of this that are legitimately autobiographical that I feel like I lived.”
Boasting a stellar cast including Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan, “Weapons” aims to outscale “Barbarian.”
“It is more ambitious in almost every way,” Cregger said. “The story is weirder and it’s twistier and it’s bigger.”
