Season 2 of Netflix’s biggest show will have more ‘horror movie moments’

The second season of Wednesday will be ‘very intense’ and have horror movie moments, the creator has promised.
The hit Netflix show first premiered in 2022, following Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams as she attended Nevermore Academy – a school for children with supernatural powers – and promptly found herself smack bang in a murder mystery.
She was joined in the star-studded cast by Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán, who played parents Morticia and Gomez, while Emma Myers stole the show as her roommate, Enid Sinclair.
It became a runaway success and is the streamer’s most-watched program of all time, with more than 250million views – beating Stranger Things season four, and Adolescence.
Ahead of the second season finally being released in August, co-creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough shed light on what we can expect, teasing that things at Nevermore get very dark for Wednesday and co…

‘There’s some moments which are definitely horror movie-worthy,’ Miles told Entertainment Weekly. ‘We have that in season one, but I think this season there are moments that are very intense, I’ll say.

‘Season two definitely has some moments which are more straightforward horror, and we’re very aware that the show is watched by everybody in terms of the age groups.
‘So we want to make sure that it’s never torture porn, but that there’s enough bite to it that it feels that there are real stakes and that people die in this world, and it’s scary at moments. And I think that’s the great tonal shift that the show makes between comedy and horror.’
‘The mystery is a little more complex than season one, but I also just feel like the world is bigger and you get to really explore other characters,’ Alfred added.
‘Wednesday’s not in every scene, so you get to learn more about Enid, you get to learn more about Bianca [Joy Sunday].’

Although fans still have a few months before getting their hands on the new episodes – with part one being released on August 6, before part two lands the following month – many were thrilled over the update.
Flocking to Twitter to unpack the remarks, Micol yelled: ‘HORROR IN WEDNESDAY FINALLY THANK YOU JENNA ORTEGA.’
Terry agreed: ‘This is the *exact* type of improvement I was hoping to see.’
Eloise added: ‘Wednesday baby I love you so much but I’m so happy we really are getting to know Enid and Bianca more.’

Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Christopher Lloyd and Haley Joel Osment are among the newcomers for season two.
The official synopsis reads: ‘Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await.
‘This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem.
‘Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery.’
Wednesday season 2 will be premiering on Netflix on August 6.
