- RuPaul has earned his 10th consecutive nomination for hosting RuPaul’s Drag Race — a new record.
- Mama Ru breezes past Heidi Klum and Tom Bergeron to become the Emmys’ most-nominated competition host.
- Reigning category winner Alan Cumming also scored another nod for The Traitors.
RuPaul has set the Emmys standard as high as her crimson MAC Viva Glam boots, as the RuPaul’s Drag Race star just shattered a historic record to become the most-nominated competition host in the category’s history.
Upon the 2025 Emmy Award nominations announcement Tuesday morning, Mama Ru sashayed past Project Runway‘s Heidi Klum and Dancing With the Stars‘ Tom Bergeron to take the title with her 10th consecutive nomination for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program.
The 64-year-old drag superstar was nominated this year alongside Survivor‘s Jeff Probst, Top Chef‘s Kristen Kish, the seven-strong Shark Tank ensemble, and reigning category champion, Alan Cumming of The Traitors.

RuPaul set the category ablaze by winning across eight consecutive years, until The Traitors‘ Cumming broke Ru’s winning streak last year.
Still, no other nominee has earned as many consecutive nominations as RuPaul, who heads into September’s 2025 Emmys ceremony with that feat comfortably secured. He also stands as the most-decorated Black artist in Emmys history, with 14 statues to his name.
Elsewhere among this year’s Emmys nominations, RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 earned nods for Outstanding Reality Competition Program and Directing for a Reality Program, and for season 2 runner-up Raven’s makeup, among others, while the Untucked companion show also earned another nomination for Unstructured Reality Program.
Mama Ru’s 10th nomination in the category comes after a well-received installment of the MTV drag competition series, with season 17 introducing 14 new contestants into the mix, from fan-favorites like Kori King, Joella, and Jewels Sparkles, to Miss Congeniality winner Crystal Envy, Queen of She Done Already Done Had Herses winner Suzie Toot, and returning All Stars 10 competitor Lydia Butthole Kollins.
The show’s most recent regular season eventually concluded in April, with Cleveland’s Onya Nurve taking the title. RuPaul is currently presiding over the bracket-style AS10 competition, which concludes Friday on Paramount+.

While RuPaul holds the record, Klum is hot on her tail, as the Project Runway host returns to the fashion competition program on July 31 for the first time since 2017, as the show moves from Bravo to Freeform, Hulu, and Disney+.
Coincidentally, joining Klum for Project Runway season 21 is a Drag Race alum, season 13 queen Utica, who will compete on the upcoming season under real name Ethan Mundt.
The 77th Emmy Awards, hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze, air Sunday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on ABC.
