Romero Games is closing because of Xbox

Following the redundancies announced by Microsoft this week, both internal and external projects have been cancelled. This was the case for an Xbox-funded FPS that was in development at Romero Games.
Since the American manufacturer withdrew its funding, the game was buried. Worse still, all the studio’s employees were laid off. Speaking to The Journal, an anonymous developer reports "immense shock" at the decision.
"Everyone is out of work. We had meetings with the publisher the day before this happened, and the subject didn’t come up… It didn’t seem possible. Development of the game was going well at the time."
Over 100 people lost their jobs. While the creators of the Unreal Engine FPS are looking for other ways to finance it, the project has been completely shut down and the studio closed for the time being.
