Rome: Total War’s Feral Interactive port receives major new Imperium update

- Rome: Total War’s mobile port from Feral Interactive is getting a major overhaul
- The Imperium update integrates a suite of new mechanics, quality-of-life improvements and more
- Better yet you can now enjoy mouse and keyboard support for unprecedented tactical control
For Feral Interactive, veritable masters of mobile porting, one of their best series has been bringing Creative Assembly’s hit mix of real-time strategy and grand empire building to mobile with the Total War series. And now, fans of Rome: Total War for Android and iOS can benefit from a suite of new additions in the major Imperium Edition update!
Now, although not in the exact same form, many of these are similar to mechanics that Feral would introduce in their mainline PC remaster of Total War: Rome. This is not to call this a bad thing, far from it in fact as while many aspects of the remaster of Rome could be critiqued, few would call these quality-of-life features poor additions.
Okay, but enough of that, what actually are these features? Well, for seasoned veterans these are mainly for you, as Positioning Mode, Melee Mode and Automatic Deselection are all being introduced from the Medieval II port.

But for commanders both new and old alike, the introduction of Command Slowdown will be a welcome addition. Common in the newer releases this automatically slows gameplay while giving complex orders to ensure you can make precise strategic decisions on the fly.
Oh, and did I mention keyboard and mouse support? Yes, now if you’re playing on Android or iOS you can make use of your familiar desktop controls, making this one of the best ways to play the original Rome: Total War in all its polygonal glory! Be sure to keep an eye out for other quality-of-life, gameplay and other improvements in the Imperium update, out now!
