*Cassie Ventura is set to take the stand in Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs‘ upcoming federal trial, opting to testify under her own name rather than anonymously.

As TMZ reports, the singer was previously referred to in court documents as “Victim 1,” and testifying openly could prove pivotal, amplifying a case already steeped in controversy. Combs faces several federal charges, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. While three other alleged victims will use pseudonyms to avoid harassment, Cassie’s identity has been public for months, largely due to a now-infamous surveillance video that surfaced last year. The footage, originally published by CNN, shows Diddy assaulting Cassie in a Los Angeles hotel hallway.

The hotel footage depicts the father of seven, clad in only a towel, chasing Cassie, violently grabbing her, slamming her to the floor, and kicking her. In response to the leaked hotel video, Combs’ legal team has accused the government of orchestrating the release. However, prosecutors have denied any involvement. In response to the CNN clip, the hip-hop producer said, “It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life. Sometimes you gotta do that. I was f**ked up,” Diddy explained in the now-deleted post on social media.

“I mean, I hit rock bottom but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable,” he added. “I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it, I’m disgusted now.”

The Bad Boy Records founder, who was arrested in September 2024 following raids on his properties in Los Angeles and Miami, is currently being held at MDC Brooklyn. His trial is scheduled to begin May 5. Diddy has pleaded not guilty and continues to deny all allegations.

Cassie first sued Combs in November 2023, accusing him of rape, abuse, and human trafficking. That lawsuit was settled just days later, but it sparked a wave of additional accusations against the music mogul.
