Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Reveals 2025 Inductees: OutKast, Chubby Checker, Cyndi Lauper & More
*The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced its 2025 class, spotlighting a diverse lineup of performers and contributors who’ve shaped the sound and soul of music. The induction ceremony is set for November 8 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and will stream live on Disney+, followed by a special on ABC, NPR reports.
Among the newly named inductees is Chubby Checker, whose iconic twist brought generations to the dance floor. After years of lobbying—including a 2001 Billboard ad declaring, “I want my flowers while I’m alive,” Checker finally secures his place. He’s joined by ‘70s rock supergroup Bad Company, and Joe Cocker, the soulful voice behind “You Are So Beautiful.”
Pop icon Cyndi Lauper also makes the list, her induction coinciding with her farewell tour. OutKast also join the ranks after earning their first nomination this year. Soundgarden, credited for helping forge the grunge movement, and The White Stripes, torchbearers of the 2000s garage rock revival, round out the performer category.
In the Musical Influence category, Salt-N-Pepa are the first all-female rap group inducted, while cult favorite Warren Zevon is recognized decades after his eligibility began, following a campaign led by Billy Joel.
Three music legends are honored for Musical Excellence: Thom Bell, a mastermind of Philly soul; Nicky Hopkins, pianist for the Rolling Stones and the Beatles; and Carol Kaye, a bass virtuoso who played on countless hits.
Lenny Waronker, revered for his artist-friendly approach as Warner Bros. president, receives the Ahmet Ertegun Award for industry impact.
In a press release, Chairman John Sykes summed up the class: “Each of these inductees created their own sound and attitude that had a profound impact on culture and helped to change the course of Rock & Roll forever. Their music gave a voice to generations and influenced countless artists that followed in their footsteps.”
