Rob Lowe shares shirtless photo with his son John Owen at the gym

Rob Lowe has revealed a family tradition — as well as his muscled physique — via a new shirtless photo alongside his son and Unstable costar, John Owen, while the pair worked out at the gym.

The 61-year-old St. Elmo’s Fire and Parks and Recreation actor shared Wednesday a photo of himself standing shirtless next to his 29-year-old son, while the pair both flexed their muscles for the camera.

“Lowe family tradition: self indulgent shirtless gym photos,” his son wrote in the photo’s caption.

The actor’s other son, Matthew, also popped up in the comments to rib his family members.

“Why does it look like you photoshopped your head on @johnnylowe?” Matthew, 32, wrote under the photo.

Other celebrities who replied to the photo include writer Kelly Oxford, who quipped, “AI COULD NEVER,” while actress Emilia Jones shared a pair of wolf emojis.

Lowe has long made room for his sons in the spotlight, as the trio previously hosted the supernatural docuseries The Lowe Files in 2017, which saw the men pursuing the discovery of various occult phenomenon.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly at the time, the actor recalled encountering Bigfoot during production of the program.

“Genuinely terrified? I was lying on the ground thinking I was going to be killed,” Lowe said of the tense moment.

In a March 2025 interview with AARP, Lowe told the publication that he regularly monitors his sons’ love lives.

“I have a probably overly inappropriate interest in my sons’ love lives,” he said. “Because I’m angling for grandkids. It better happen!”

Lowe shares both sons with his wife, Sheryl Berkoff, whom he married in 1991.
