Night: Slashers Remake brings the classic beat ’em up to mobile

- Night Slashers: Remake is out now for iOS and Android
- Take on hordes of undead, mutants, and werewolves, among other beasties
- Play four distinct characters and enjoy a revamped classic
The 80s were very much the golden age of the arcade beat ’em up. Final Fight, Double Dragon and many others all graced arcade machines. But one underrated classic is set to make a return as Night Slashers makes its way with thudding steps onto mobile!
In this classic brawler from Data East (and coming courtesy of Storm Trident), you play as four different characters taking on the hordes of the undead straight out of Hammer Horror. Be that zombies, mutants, murderous thralls, mummies or vampires, you’ll need to slay them all in fine arcade tradition!
Night Slashers: Remake lets you brawl with the best of them, and even try out the first level and one character (Christopher Smith) completely free. And for those familiar with the original, there’s still plenty of new content to explore, not least the dazzling visual upgrades with dynamic lighting and blood splatters to add to the carnage.
Just punch Dracula
It’s always welcome to find more additions to the vibrant beat ’em up genre on mobile. For the platform, these are aptly suited, what with the limited necessary controls and the arcade-style format. And Night Slashers is a decidedly welcome cult classic to make a return.
There may be some who find the charm of the original graphics to be lost with this remaster. But the revamped music, sound and controls could well be worth that even for those sceptical of new ‘drawn’ textures and a different style to the original Data East arcade release.
