Ray J Slams Rumors Linking Him to Whitney Houston’s Death | Video

*Ray J has debunked longstanding rumors tying him to the 2012 death of Whitney Houston, calling the speculation baseless and disrespectful.
Speaking on Cam Newton’s Funky Friday podcast, the R&B star expressed frustration over claims he was present when Houston passed.
“She was one of the most important people to me,” Ray J said, Vibe reports. “Ni**as is saying that I was in the room when she died. Bro, that’s the biggest cap I’ve ever heard.”
The singer clarified he was in San Diego for a performance on the night Houston died. They had planned to attend Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party together to announce their relationship. “The Clive Davis event was the next day. We were going to go there together and we were going to make the announcement that we were [dating],” he revealed.
Ray J has avoided addressing the rumors, feeling it was unfair to the late superstar singer. “I didn’t care about what people were saying at first,” he explained.

“It’s not my truth. It’s just certain times when narratives are going to the moon. That’s not true. You have to go and you have to shut certain things down, right? The way they made that seem is so haunting to me.”
Ray J’s connection with Houston was deeply personal, and he rarely speaks about her publicly. “That was my people, bro. … I barely speak on Whitney. She’s Whitney Houston. Yes, that’s Whitney Houston, but she’s Whitney to me,” he said. “To me it’s just so distasteful for somebody to have to tell somebody something that the other person can’t respond to.”
His decision to break his silence stems from a desire to protect Houston’s legacy. Check out what Ray J had to say in the video below.
