- Ralph Macchio appeared on Live With Kelly & Mark and discussed items he’s kept from sets.
- Macchio revealed he still has a car from Karate Kid and Converse sneakers from The Outsiders.
- He also kept a can of tuna from the shoplifting scene in My Cousin Vinny — and still has it.
Ralph Macchio’s character might’ve opened several cans of whoop-ass throughout his tenure with the Karate Kid franchise, but the actor revealed Friday morning that he stole a literal can from the set of one of his other movies — and this is a vessel he doesn’t plan on opening any time soon.
While promoting his new Karate Kid: Legends film during an appearance on Live With Kelly & Mark, Macchio revealed he has a wealth of props and costume elements he took from various sets over the years, including an unopened, real can of tuna that was used during a key shoplifting scene at the beginning of the 1992 film My Cousin Vinny.
Macchio told hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos that the tuna is “somewhere in my house,” though he didn’t know exactly where. Still, he’s sure of one thing.

“But, we don’t need to open that,” Macchio joked, referencing the release date of the hit Oscar-winning film also starring Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei. “Bought it in 1991, whenever it was!”
The can of tuna played an important role in My Cousin Vinny, with Macchio’s character, Bill, accidentally shoplifting it. Shortly after, police arrest him and his friend, Stan, with the college students assuming they’re under investigation over the tuna. They confess, though they don’t realize the police are searching for murder suspects, with their admission igniting a chain of events that carry throughout the rest of the movie.
Macchio said he also has a vintage Karate Kid car that he still drives around, and that he kept a pair of Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars he wore while filming Francis Ford Coppola’s 1983 adaptation of The Outsiders.
“We used it in Cobra Kai, now it’s back on the East Coast. Probably this weekend I’ll take it for a spin. Boy, does it turn some heads,” Macchio said of the car.
“I love the randomness of the things you keep. A pair of Chuck Taylors, an incredible car, a can of tuna!” Ripa later exclaimed, before Macchio also noted that he kept a guitar from his 1986 musical drama Crossroads.

“You should open a museum,” Ripa exclaimed.
Before he does that, Macchio might be interested in making a My Cousin Vinny sequel, as he told he told PEOPLE at PaleyFest earlier this year that he’s “had conversations with other writers about that,” but that the process ultimately relies on “finding the smart angle in.”
