Raging Egg takes you on an adventure to help a fragile life survive, or smash, out now on iOS

  • Raging Egg is out now on iOS and offers plenty of egg-based challenge
  • Roll, jump, fall, crack, try again, it’s all part of the challenge involved
  • Take on eight hand-crafted levels and enjoy ‘challenging yet fair’ (sure) gameplay

There’s always a compromise between fragility and power in a platformer. Obviously, you don’t want to add in fall damage because that way you either get something bad or something like Jump King which is intended to be frustrating (yet fun). But what if it’s all about being fragile? Well, that’s what Raging Egg seeks to answer!

In Raging Egg, it’s just you, the kitchen and one fragile egg. Your job is simply to guide the egg in all its awkward rolling glory across the kitchen and to the end of the level in the process.

The obvious twist here is the awkwardness with which you move and the challenge involved. There’s definitely something of Getting Over It to Raging Egg, and the comparison to Jump King a little earlier certainly wasn’t unwarranted. At the same time, I know there are plenty of you who are fans of rage games, so this isn’t without an audience.

Eggscellent

In terms of content, Raging Egg isn’t lacking either as you’ll be able to enjoy eight hand-crafted levels. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but remember it’s the journey (and many failures along the way) that makes a rage game.

Graphically speaking, while Raging Egg isn’t exactly an Unreal engine tech demo, it’s undoubtedly good for what it’s trying to offer, and has plenty of cel-shaded charm. And better yet, it’s free to play with the only purchase necessary being to remove those pesky adverts.

And while I can’t promise all of them will have the brutal difficulty that you crave, it’s worth checking out our list of the top 25 best platformers for iOS and Android to find what we’ve got in the genre. Ranging from adaptations of well-known franchises to platform-original indie classics you’d do well to check out!
