Traveling is no longer a kryptonite for Rachel Brosnahan, thanks to the help of a witch.
The actress appeared on Wednesday’s episode of Jimmy Fallon’s late-night show and revealed to the stunned host that a travel curse had plagued her life for a decade — that is, until she enlisted some help out of fears that it would interfere with her global travels for the Superman press tour.
“It’s a miracle that we made it all over the world,” Brosnahan, who plays Lois Lane opposite David Corenswet’s Clark Kent/Superman in James Gunn’s latest superhero film, said of the press tour that spanned Asia, Europe, and the U.S. “I have been suffering from a travel curse for the last 10 years.”
Brosnahan’s travels are “never not as stressful as humanly possible,” she explained, adding, “Literally, Peter Safran, who co runs DC Studios, won’t travel with me. He was like, ‘I’m not getting on a plane with you.'”
“Nobody believes the curse until they travel with me,” Brosnahan said, elaborating further on specific incidents to a skeptical Fallon.
“The first time I remember it happening, I was shooting a show in New Mexico and premiering a film at Cannes,” she recounted. “They gave me 36 hours off the show to promote this film. I was on my way there, it was a beautiful day in May in sunny gorgeous New Mexico.”
Yet en route to the airport on the highway, “All of a sudden, an apocalyptic snowstorm hit,” she said. “A complete whiteout. I made it by the skin of my teeth. They probably shouldn’t have let me on the plane, but I got there.”

Then, while traveling to Paris for the Olympics from Los Angeles last year, her traveling buddies all made it onto their flights. Meanwhile, “I got stuck at LAX for eight hours,” Brosnahan said. “Like, baggage lost, reservations lost.” It even impacted her travels to audition for the part of Lois Lane. She arrived “by the skin of my teeth,” but also conceded, “Honestly, I felt like the chaos that came with me after what I’d been through that morning must have felt so Lois Lane-coded or something. It worked out just fine.”
“Whoever put this curse on me is so petty because I always make [the flights] but it’s always so stressful,” she said. Given her track record, Brosnahan was “really worried” about the Superman tour. “I got desperate so I asked if anyone knew like an energy healer or a past-life reader,” she said.
Enter: the witch, who traveled to Brosnahan’s home to lift the curse. “She brought a wishing well and a wand,” she said. “And she signed an NDA and we tackled the curse together . . . she seemed pretty skilled and ready to take it on. I’m happy to report that it worked.”
In theaters now, the latest Superman follows the titular hero as he reconciles his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. The starry cast also includes Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, and Milly Alcock as Supergirl.
