Prime Video Premieres its New Crime Drama ‘Countdown’ | WATCH

*Prime Video’s newest crime series, Countdown, premieres this week, starring Jensen Ackles and Eric Dane.

Last week, audiences were treated to the first three episodes of this crime thriller, setting the stage for what promises to be one of the summer’s most talked-about shows.

The show’s creator and director, Derek Haas introduced the cast before the screening, admiring the chemistry the cast had off-screen.

“To watch this cast meet together for the first time and then watch them gel. The chemistry that they shared off-screen, I get to be the beneficiary of because it’s all on the screen!” said Haas.

Countdown follows LAPD detective Mark Meachum, portrayed by Jensen Ackles, as he is thrown into a multi-agency task force following the shocking murder of a Homeland Security agent. Ackles, known for his long-standing role on Supernatural, steps into familiar territory with a character that blends toughness, charm, and rebellion. However, Countdown elevates those traits in a more grounded, high-intensity world filled with dangerous secrets and deadly conspiracies.

Eric Dane, best known for his work in Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria, stars alongside Ackles as Nathan Blythe, the seasoned leader of the task force. Dane’s role brings both authority and vulnerability, made even more significant by his recent public revelation of his ALS diagnosis. It is unclear if he was dealing with the effects of this disease while filming. His charm, charisma, and stoic nature still shine through on the screen.

The premiere episodes wasted no time throwing viewers into the action. Fast-paced chases, undercover missions, and explosive confrontations are balanced with emotional character development and engaging dialogue.
