Pokémon Go unveils new details for Go Fest 2025 and celebrates nine years since launch

- Pokémon Go is set to celebrate nine years since launch, as well as unveiling new details of Go Fest 2025
- Catch anniversary-themed versions of familiar Pokémon and nab event bonuses
- Encounter Go Fest’s themed roster of Pokémon on different days alongside new in-game items in the shop
It probably says a lot for Niantic that I’ve often heard the release of Pokémon Go was the ‘closest we came to world peace’ or words to that effect. After nine years since launch, I think all of us, young and old, still remember the days when they first did the unthinkable and brought Pokémon to the real world (sort of).
Now, nine years on, Pokémon Go is set to celebrate almost a decade since launch in style with a brand new event. From July 1st to July 6th, you’ll be able to encounter new costumed Pokémon, with Ivysaur and Venusaur both sporting snazzy new party hats, while Gimmighoul will make an appearance holding an equally enticing 9th anniversary coin.
There’s a whole other suite of bonuses to get you out and about for the ninth anniversary celebrations, too. An increased chance to become Lucky Friends, encounter Lucky Pokémon and for PokeStops to turn gold without making use of the Golden Lure Module, and even more besides.
Go-ing global
But it’s not just the ninth anniversary to look forward to! There are also those aforementioned details of the upcoming Go Fest 2025. Taking place from the 28th to the 29th, you can either jump in for free or upgrade with an event ticket.
But paid or not, there’s plenty to sink your teeth into, with different rosters of event-themed Pokémon appearing on both Saturday and Sunday, alongside another suite of event bonuses. Special avatar items will also be available both via the Go Pass and the in-game event shop in this steampunk-themed fest.
If you’re planning on jumping into Pokémon Go, don’t get caught out spending more than you have to. Instead, be sure to take a quick look through our list of Pokémon Go promo codes to see what free boosts are available!
