Alcyone: The Last City is an upcoming interactive novel where your choices can lead to the rise and fall of a civilisation

- Narrative-driven adventure with branching outcomes
- Colourful characters and deep lore
- Pick your character’s attributes too
Narrative-driven experiences are my jam, and if you’re anything like me, I feel like Alcyone: The Last City – an upcoming sci-fi interactive novel from developer Joshua Meadows – might just be right up your alley. Coming to mobile and Steam on April 2nd, this choice-based RPG-style novel will have you making crucial decisions that branch out into different outcomes, offering you the chance to alter the world after the fall of civilisation.
Of course, with something this dynamic, there has to be a beefy amount of writing involved, which is where the approximately 250,000-word story comes in. There are plenty of colourful characters to meet and deep lore of the City to uncover, with lots of political intrigue and betrayal thrown in for good measure.
What’s interesting here is that you can apparently pick attributes for your character much like in an RPG, which also affects the choices you make along the way. It’s meant to be replayed over and over again, and with seven different endings to aim for – plus five romance subplots – it does seem like it’ll take up a huge chunk of your time in a very good way.
It won’t be long now until its official launch, but if you’re looking for something to tide you over until then, and if you’re on the hunt for something similar, why not take a look at our list of the best narrative games on Android to get your fill?
