On consoles, Oblivion Remastered's performance gets worse with every hour you play

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered** has been available for almost three weeks now. While the Unreal Engine 5 remaster looks great, it unfortunately hides some serious technical issues, particularly on consoles.

YouTube channel Digital Foundry analyzed these problems in a recent video. In the end, the findings are quite straightforward. Whether on PS5, PS5 Pro or Xbox Series, the game runs worse and worse as time goes by.

For example, Oblivion will run better when the game has just been launched and a save loaded for the first time. Then, after an estimated 15 minutes of gameplay, performance will start to deteriorate. The same sequence, for example, will display a framerate of 60 FPS at first launch, compared with 49 FPS after several minutes. Load after load as you move from one zone to another, or loading different savegames in the same session, are all factors that will degrade the experience.

To keep things simple, we recommend that you play for a few minutes, then close and restart the software. Crashes also seem to occur more frequently over time. Digital Foundry believes that this is due to poor memory management or a memory leak.We need a patch ASAP!
