NVIDIA has compared the RTX 50 and RTX 40 sales in a questionable manner

NVIDIA claims to have shipped twice as many RTX 50 graphics cards as RTX 40 in the first five weeks after launch. However, this comparison does not take into account the differences between the two generations.
When the RTX 40 series was released, only the RTX 4090 was available during this period. By contrast, the RTX 50 series was introduced with four models: the RTX 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti and 5070. NVIDIA adds up the sales of several units to compare them with a single model, which distorts the analysis.
For a more accurate assessment, all RTX 40 models should be compared over an equivalent period. Taking into account the RTX 4090, 4080, 4070 Ti and 4070 in their respective first weeks, the total volume could be higher than that of the RTX 50.
NVIDIA has also been heavily criticized for the limited availability of RTX 50 boards at MSRP. According to TweakTown, the company is working with its partners to improve the situation, but there are no noticeable change just yet.
