NVIDIA CEO talks about the Switch 2 and pays tribute to Satoru Iwata

Nintendo has published a special edition of its Creator’s Voice program, dedicated to developers speaking out about their work on Switch 2. This time, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang takes the floor.

During the interview, Huang focused on Satoru Iwata’s vision for the first Switch. Having passed away in July 2015, the former Nintendo president’s ambition was to create a console capable of offering great cinematic games and that could be carried anywhere. A vision that will reach a whole new level with the Switch 2.

According to Jensen Huang, the Switch 2 chip is unlike anything NVIDIA has done before. It brings together three distinct innovations. Starting with "the most advanced graphics available on a mobile device". The console will feature "full hardware ray tracing, high dynamic range for more intense highlights and shadows, and an architecture that makes for backward compatibility".

Huang also mentions "dedicated AI processors" aimed at refining, animating and enhancing gameplay in real time. Finally, the Switch 2’s power consumption is said to be "ultra-low" thanks to semiconductor technology optimized for high performance on a portable.
