No End to Trump’s Deceptive Blustering

*It’s becoming more and more apparent that Donald Trump has no regard nor understanding of truth and righteousness. Has all the laying on of hands of the far-right Christian nationalists been in vain?

Are they so proud of their white supremacist heritage that they have forgotten Jesus’ summary of the Ten Commandments in Matthew 22:37-40: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Is it – as the media reports – that Trump is in the throes of dementia, or is he just devoid of any connection with spirituality? One has to wonder if he is totally consumed by pride when he makes uninformed, illogical public musings like “Am I allowed to appoint myself?” referring to himself as a replacement for the chairman of the Federal Reserve Commission.

In the same press conference, he attacked current chair Jerome Powell, calling him “stupid” and added “I could do a better job” in response to Powell keeping interest rates steady at 4.25 to 4.5 percent. How unpresidential! Falling up the stairs, incoherent statements – has Trump become so unraveled and discombobulated, or is he so comfortable and confident that his base will continue to overlook all of his blustering and fumbling within the political arena?

Case in point: There was no need to send the National Guard and Marines to Los Angeles during the peaceful protests which Trump coined “a riot.” The peaceful Angeleno protesters (not the thugs) were not even close to the insurrection Trump caused on January 6^th at the Capitol, and yet, he did not think it necessary to call upon the National Guard then! Is there an ulterior motive?

Is Trump trying to see how far he can go to have the power to impose martial law anywhere and upon whomever/whatever he chooses throughout the country? According to Study.com “Martial law refers to the imposition of military control over civilian authorities, typically during times of extreme crisis when traditional law enforcement becomes ineffective.” Why is Trump usurping the authority of California Governor Gavin Newsom, and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass?

Trump’s deceptive blustering tactics which have permeated his entire administration, remind me of the poster “If you can’t dazzle ‘em with brilliance, baffle ‘em with b***s***!” Well so far, I have not seen any brilliance, so where does that leave us as a nation?

As I’ve written before, “so goes the head, so goes the tail;” Trump’s characteristic disregard for decorum, decency, and respect for others is affecting every rung of our social ladder. He’s been called many things on social media, but what stands out the most is, Liar! Proverbs 19:9 says this about habitual liars: “Tell lies and you’re going to get caught, and the habitual liar is doomed.”

We are instructed to pray for our leaders, but if God hates a lying tongue, shouldn’t we? How can we now believe anything those so-called far-right Christian preachers say who laid their hands on Trump and used their platforms to promote “The Big Lie” of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election?

No matter how you look at it, people who lie every time they speak are habitual liars, and our democracy cannot stand without the undergirding of truth, and the guardrails of righteousness and justice.
