Nintendo Switch 2 UK Pre-Orders: Live Stock Tracker 2025

With Nintendo opening the gates for Switch 2 pre-orders at the start of the month, the race has been on, with stock vanishing faster than a Boo nabbing your item. As the follow-up to one of the most successful consoles ever, demand was always going to be high. And while retailers have been dropping stock in short, chaotic bursts, by the time you’ve clocked it, you’re greeted with the all-too-familiar “no longer available”.

Right now, stock is sold out everywhere. EE Store, Argos, Smyths, Very, HMV, Game, and John Lewis all went live at various times over the last ten days, but none lasted more than an hour. Smyths and Argos gave us brief second waves, but for now, it’s back to radio silence.

Nintendo’s playing things a little differently, rolling out what amounts to a golden ticket system. Only those with a full year of Switch Online and at least 50 hours of gameplay logged before 2 April are getting a shot. Amazon is staying cryptic too – operating on an invite-only basis. So, if you’re not already in, you’ll need to sit tight.

If you’re hoping to score one before launch day, we’ll be tracking every restock, drop, and retailer update in real-time. Bookmark this page, and check back often. Because when it goes live, you’ll want to move fast.

In the meantime…

While we wait, fingers hovering over baskets, eyes locked on Lakitu’s green light, it’s the perfect time to catch up on everything the Switch 2 will deliver.

What’s new with the Nintendo Switch 2?

Nintendo’s next-gen hybrid console is shaping to be more than a safe sequel. Building on the DNA of the original 2017 model, the Switch 2 ups the ante across the board, with the headline upgrade being the screen: a bigger, brighter 7.9-inch handheld display (up from 6.2) now equipped with 1080p resolution and HDR support. Docked, the console can push up to 4K and hit 120Hz on supported displays.

Under the hood, a hefty 256GB of storage offers plenty of room, far more than the meagre three-to-four-game limit of the 32GB launch model or 64GB OLED. Physically, it’s bigger and heavier, with a sleeker profile, added USB-C port and more ergonomic Joy-Cons.

What games are available on the Switch 2?

Backwards compatibility is confirmed – your old favourites will still run just fine – but Nintendo’s giving the Switch 2 its own wave of upgraded titles and, in some cases, exclusives to show off what the new hardware can do.

Some games are getting a visual and performance boost in their “Nintendo Switch 2 Edition” re-releases, including Tears of the Kingdom, Breath of the Wild and Metroid Prime 4. Other titles, like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, are skipping the old hardware and launching exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Here’s the confirmed Switch 2 launch day line-up:

• Arcade Archives 2 Ridge Racer
• Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster
• Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition
• Deltarune
• Fast Fusion
• Fortnite
• Hitman World of Assassination – Signature Edition
• Hogwarts Legacy
• Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess
• Mario Kart World
• Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour
• Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening Complete Edition
• Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S
• Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma
• Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 (Nintendo Switch 2 Edition)
• Split Fiction
• Street Fighter 6
• Survival Kids
• The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo Switch 2 Edition)
• The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Nintendo Switch 2 Edition)
• Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut

Post-launch, Donkey Kong Bananza will swing into view on 17th July. Looking further ahead, Kirby Air Riders and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment are locked in for 2025, while FromSoftware’s new title, The Duskbloods, is expected to arrive sometime in 2026.
